The Half-life 1 Mod by Max is maybe a little too rough for me to recommend for a first time playthrough. the Half-life 2 mod by Source VR Mod Team however is stellar I would say its good enough to play for the first time with. their episode 1 mod should be out next month now word on Ep2 yet though. Half-Life 1 works well enough in VR that I'm excited to return in Half-Life: Alyx, an experience built from the ground-up with VR in mind. My ladder experience has extra relevance too, since Alyx's special ability in Half-Life 2 and the episodes was her proficiency at climbing.
