I have taken off the convertible top seven (7) times now. I've replaced the tension straps twice making sure to mount the straps so they are not too tight. I am reasonably certain they are not the problem. I can't seem to find a solution to the issue of the convertible top motor straining to close. It will travel to a point and then stop.

You are correct that the window probably needs re-initialized and you are correct that you do it through the window switch. Hoever, you don't hold it in the "down" position. You need to close all the doors, and raise the window and once it stops, keep holding the switch in the up position for an additional 5 seconds.
